A nice relaxing spot to float in the river, Blanco State Park is a small state park in the City of Blanco.  Even it was the 4th of July, there was not a huge crowd and it was very family friendly atmosphere.  Most of the groups we saw on the river were families with children in tow.

We found this nice shady spot to set up our chairs and have our picnic lunch before we floated.

It was about 95 degrees while we were out but there was a bit of a breeze and it was comfortable under the shade.  We sat and relaxed and enjoyed the view of the river.

I can’t wait to go back soon with the boys.

On the way home we stopped in Marble Falls for an early dinner at the well known Bluebonnet Café.                 264122_2205354175509_1297042606_2615202_4290267_n             Open since 1929 the diner serves yummy home cooked style diner food and homemade pie.  We arrived during pie happy hour and could have had a slice of pie and a drink for $3.50.  Quite a deal for homemade pie with tall meringue.  I’ve had pie there before and it’s very tasty.  Today we were hungry and passed on the pie and opted instead for the chargrilled sirloin with 3 veggie side.  Yummo!
